DO I HAVE TO BE A GOOD ARTIST TO APPLY?
Absolutely no prior experience is required. We are excited to meet each student where they are at, and to supply individualized instruction based on experience and interest.
WHO TEACHES GRIOT CLASSES?
We do not hire full time teachers, rather we encourage community participation and welcome all local teachers, artists, and people with creative expertise to teach each semester. Some teachers have been with us for years, while others might participate on a semester basis.
WHERE ARE CLASSES HELD? HOW ARE YOU DEALING WITH COVID?
Classes are typically held at the Griot building located at 278 Sunflower Ave in downtown Clarksdale (by the river).
HOW MUCH DOES GRIOT COST?
The cost is dependent on a number of factors. However we offer various payment plans according to your individual needs. We offer monthly installments, and scholarships.
HOW MIGHT GRIOT HELP ME IN THE FUTURE?
Griot offers help with ACT prep, FAFSA applications, and more. Whatever your future needs, we are here to meet them.
WHERE HAVE GRIOT ALUMNI GONE TO COLLEGE?
Griot alumni have attended University of Mississippi, Coahoma Community College, and Alcorn State University. Students choosing career paths are pursuing a range of experiences such as commercial truck driving and the National Guard.
